Tomamu Sheep Farm

Wool from our working sheep farm in Tomamu, Hokkaido.

Wool from our flock in Tomamu

Tomamu Sheep Farm is a working farm in Shimukappu, Hokkaido, home to around 300 sheep. We are preparing a small online wool shop where people will be able to buy raw fleece and processed wool directly from the farm, including limited naturally black wool.

This is a working farm, not an open tourist attraction.

The sheep, dogs, and people behind the wool

Every fleece begins with the flock, the pasture, and the daily work of Ryoji and Shiho. Suffolk and Poll Dorset breeding lines, Booroola Dorset wool sheep, and naturally black crossbred sheep all have a place in the farm’s story.

Working sheepdogs are part of that work. Gypsy manages the flock, Dot is learning, Gwen is Gypsy’s mother, and fifteen-year-old Merry is retired. Their work gives the wool its real context: this is a material grown by a living flock on a working Hokkaido farm.
